Lascia ch’io pianga (Handel)

“Lascia ch’io pianga” (from Italian, “Let me weep”) is one of Haendel’s most famous arias. Despite its simple melodic contour, it is a very deep and expressive piece originally written in a 3/4 meter. In the present version I rewrite the ternary rhythm and turn it into a 4/4 ballade where I explore various forms of syncopation and textures.
